Sabina is a Solicitor with over twenty years experience advising on all aspects of family law. She has particular expertise in dealing with the financial issues on divorce and separation, including property claims, pensions and maintenance. Sabina is also skilled in advising on children matters, particularly those with an international element such as child abduction and removal from the jurisdiction.
Sabina has Resolution Specialist Accreditation in the categories of Complex Financial and Property Matters, and Child Abduction. As a trained family mediator and collaborative lawyer, her approach is to seek negotiated solutions wherever possible. However she is also well used to the court process and when cases become entrenched she will litigate to achieve a managed and cost effective settlement.

David joined the Exeter office in 1984. In 1987 he transferred to head up the Exmouth Office and became a Partner in 1988. David is an experienced family lawyer and advocate who specialises in representing children‚ guardians and parents in Court proceedings. He has many years’ experience in dealing with financial disputes on marriage/relationship breakdown with a particular interest in pension sharing options. David also advises on cohabitation agreements and civil partnerships. He is an accredited Law Society Children Panel and Advanced Family Law Panel member.
Elga joined the Ford Simey family team in November 2014 having previously been a partner in another local Firm. Elga is an accredited member of the Law Society’s Children Panel with considerable experience in representing both children and Guardians. In addition, she advises on complex divorces [including those involving domestic violence] with consequential financial settlements as well as co-habitation issues. She advises on a whole range of children law issues including child arrangement Orders, parental responsibility, prohibited steps and specific issues.
Clare specialises in Family Law having a particular interest in cases concerning children. Clare is an Advanced Member of the Law Society Family Law Panel and is a Member of Resolution. She is also a member of the Law Society Children Panel‚ a member of the Association of Lawyers for Children‚ a qualified Family Mediator and has worked for Plymouth Mediation both as a Family Mediator and Legal Consultant. Clare became a partner in 2006.
Martyn is a Consultant to the firm, primarily supporting its financial remedy work and working alongside his colleague, Sabina Smith. He is committed to resolving family issues arising on divorce or separation in a conciliatory manner whenever possible. He is entirely used to dealing with complex financial, business and property problems between couples, and difficult disputes concerning a couple’s children. He enjoys drafting pre- and post-nuptial agreements and cohabitation agreements. Martyn was a Family Mediator from 1996 until the end of 2016. He remains a Collaborative Lawyer and a member of Resolution.
