PERSONAL INJURY

The term ‘born again biker’ refers to people who rode a motorcycle in their youth and who have now returned to motorcycling.

It is important to take advice from an expert before your accident claim is settled because some insurers are now adopting a direct approach by offering up to £2,000 on Day One to get rid of a claim.

If you are thinking of making a Personal Injury claim, you would be financially better off consulting a solicitor for free in the first instance. That’s no empty promise says Julian Nicholls who heads the Ford Simey Personal Injury team and is also recognised as one of the most experienced PI lawyers on road traffic accidents in the country.

He warns: “It is important to get an expert’s advice before you settle an accident claim because some insurers are now adopting the direct approach with claimants offering £1,500 or £2,000 on Day One to get rid of a claim. That could be a reasonable payout in a simple whiplash claim. But settlements are final, you can’t come back for more if your injury gets worse. It is better to get a medical report and a full valuation rather than accepting the first offer.”

Ford Simey advises on all claims using a no win, no fee arrangement and that means what it says. We offer free initial advice and we take the risk. We pride ourselves on only taking on winning cases. We do not take any of a client’s compensation. You get paid in full. The defendant’s insurers pay our fees separately.

To show just what is achievable, here are some examples of recent cases. We were consulted by a lady whose boyfriend (with whom she had been living for five years) was killed in a road accident. He was the breadwinner because she stayed at home to look after their baby son. Although they were not married, she was able to make a claim because she had been cohabiting for more than two years. The compensation covered not only past losses (including funeral costs) but also the contribution that he would have made to support her and his child into the future. She received over £200,000 from the insurers of the negligent driver.

Building sites continue to be a major source of accidents. In the course of building Exeter’s new shopping centre, a young man was injured when he fell from inadequate scaffolding. He broke his leg and was able to recover not only compensation for his injuries but also for his loss of pay.

A digger being operated by an inexperienced trainee crushed another man. His leg was broken and he was off work for six months but then had to change careers. His damages included a special award to compensate him for the future problems he would have trying to get work as he could no longer do heavy physical jobs.

The talents of an experienced personal injury solicitor are almost certainly required whenever the law regarding a particular claim is complicated or if the insurance company is refusing to offer a fair settlement.

So the best advice could be that FREE initial consultation with a local solicitor who will guarantee to recover 100% of the compensation to which you are entitled. Speak to Ford Simey first. It costs nothing to find out if you’ve got a case and to make sure you win it.
